Introduction

enStratus offers robust automation features. Understanding and implementing automation is non-trivial and requires an intimate understanding of infrastructure provisioning and application management.

Approaching automation is best accomplished only after a solid foundation of infrastructure provisioning, firewalls, volumes, services, and scripting.

Creating and starting a deployment is a process of telling enStratus how you want it to manage your servers, services, backups, and scaling. In this section, we’ll start by describing a service. Next, we’ll examine the process enStratus uses to start servers in a deployment. Finally, we’ll work on a laboratory and create a deployment.

Once we have an operational deployment, we’ll test the environment by triggering an auto- recovery event and an auto-scaling event.
